Furnished Finder Alternatives for Rooms for Rent (2026)

Furnished Finder is a strong choice for whole furnished homes and 30+ day work stays. If you are renting or listing a single room, Diggz is the alternative that shows who you would live with, includes unfurnished rooms, and lets owners list up to three rooms for free.

The short answer

  • You own a room and want to list it: Diggz lets you list up to three rooms for free, each as its own listing, and you can reach out to prospects instead of waiting for inquiries. Furnished Finder’s pricing page lists $199 a year per property and $149 for each additional unit at the same address.
  • Whole home, family stay, or a travel-nurse contract of 30+ days: start with Furnished Finder. It is built for that.
  • A room in a shared home, and you want to know who lives there: use Diggz. You can see profiles, lifestyle fit and household type before you message anyone.
  • You need your own furniture or a flexible lease: Diggz lists fully furnished, shared-space-only and unfurnished rooms, with leases from month-to-month to a year. Furnished Finder lists furnished housing for stays of 30+ days.

Where Furnished Finder is the better choice

Furnished Finder was built for stays of 30 days or longer, and it does that well. By its own count it has 300,000+ monthly furnished listings, including 60,000+ rooms for rent (Furnished Finder). It is the stronger option when you need:

  • Whole homes and apartments. Entire-place search, 3+ bedroom homes and pet-friendly homes are core to the site. If you are moving a family or taking a long assignment, this is not a room-matching problem, and we would send you there.
  • Travel-nurse and corporate housing. Furnished Finder says traveling healthcare professionals make up about 20% of its tenant demand.
  • Accessibility filters. Search by wheelchair accessible, disabled parking, close to public transport and elevator. Diggz currently has an elevator filter only.
  • A phone number. Landlords who opt in can be called or texted directly, and each listing has an availability calendar.
  • Landlord badges. Landlords show email, phone and ID verified badges.
  • No cost to search or contact. Tenants search and inquire for free, and Furnished Finder charges no booking fees.

If you own a room or a home: Diggz vs Furnished Finder

On Diggz you can list up to three rooms for free. Each room is its own listing at the same address, so you can set a different price, amenities and move-in date for each. On Furnished Finder, the pricing page lists $199 a year for an entire place, apartment or private room, and $149 a year for each additional unit at the same address (Furnished Finder pricing).

Room seekers outnumber listers on Diggz. In our city data for the last 12 months (as of August 2026), New York has about 9.7 active room seekers for every lister, Atlanta 5.5, Dallas 4.5 and Boston 3.5.

Promotion A complete profile ranks you higher: a photo, recent activity and verification help the algorithm show your room to the most relevant tenants. Premium adds a boost on top No paid boost. Furnished Finder’s own marketing guide says placement comes from a current calendar, fast replies and a complete profile
Lead fit Move-month filter plus household and lifestyle profiles Date filter returns rooms open earlier too
Privacy Your phone and email are not published Phone and text shown to tenants when you opt in
Best for Rooms in a home you live in or manage, coliving, student housing Furnished homes and rooms rented for 30+ days, travel-nurse housing

Furnished Finder’s marketing guide lists no paid boost for landlords. The only paid extras it mentions are an optional owner verification badge and a managed-marketing add-on.

If your home is a whole-unit furnished rental for traveling professionals, Furnished Finder’s audience is hard to beat. If you rent rooms to people who will share your home, the room-level listings on Diggz and the ability to reach out to prospects and pick a good fit are the better match.

For room seekers: why look for an alternative

Furnished Finder lists rooms, but a room is not a home. In our November 2026 walkthrough we found four gaps that matter when you are moving in with other people.

  1. You do not see who you would live with. A room listing shows price, bathroom setup, house rules and a landlord bio. We did not find housemate profiles.
  2. The number of rooms in the home is not clear. The room listing we opened showed “1 Bedroom” in its details, while the description said there were three private rooms in the apartment. On Diggz, every card says how many rooms are in the home, for example “1 Room in a 4 Beds | 3 Baths”.
  3. Furnished only, and a minimum stay. Furnished Finder is built around furnished 30+ day stays, and landlords set their own minimums (the listing we opened required 90 days). Diggz also lists unfurnished rooms and leases from month-to-month to one year.
  4. Move-in dates are loose. Search for a January move-in and you still get rooms that are open today. See our test below.

On Diggz you can filter by lifestyle (cleanliness, sleep schedule, working from home, guests, cooking, drinking and social habits) and by household type: women-only, LGBTQ-friendly, co-ed or couples welcome. Listings come from roommates, live-in and live-out landlords, coliving operators and student housing partners across 70 major U.S. and Canadian metros plus 1,572 additional cities and towns (Diggz locations).

We tested it: room counts and move-in dates

On November 2, 2026 we searched both sites for rooms in four large markets. Furnished Finder has more rooms in Atlanta, Dallas and Boston. Diggz has more in New York.

Market Rooms on Diggz Rooms on Furnished Finder
New York 1,665 756
Atlanta 943 1,022
Dallas 281 364
Boston 275 615

The counts are not identical measures. Diggz counts include furnished and unfurnished rooms, roommate homes and coliving rooms. Furnished Finder counts are rooms near the city, filtered to “Room for rent”. Treat them as the same order of magnitude, not an exact ranking.

What happens when you set a move-in date

We then searched for a January 1 and a March 1, 2027 move-in. On Diggz we selected the move month. On Furnished Finder we entered the exact date.

Market Diggz, January Diggz, March Furnished Finder, Jan 1 Furnished Finder, Mar 1
New York 190 41 649 of 756 696 of 756
Atlanta 5 0 847 of 1,022 978 of 1,022
Dallas 4 1 315 of 364 348 of 364
Boston 44 0 512 of 615 554 of 615

Two things stand out:

  • Furnished Finder’s date filter removes few rooms. A January 1 search kept 83% to 87% of rooms and a March 1 search kept 90% to 96%. Rooms listed as available in early November came back as results for January and March, so you cannot tell which ones will still be open on your date.
  • Diggz matches the move month, so it is precise but thin for later months. Searching January shows rooms with a January move-in, and searching March shows far fewer, because most rooms are listed with near-term move dates. If you are planning two or more months out, check back as your date gets closer.

If you are an owner, the same logic applies in reverse: on Diggz your room is shown to people whose move month matches yours.

How to vet any room, and how Diggz handles safety

Wherever you search, a few habits protect you from rental scams and bad matches:

  1. Ask how many people live there. Get the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, who the other residents are and the house rules before you commit.
  2. See the room live. Tour in person, or on a live video call, before you pay anything.
  3. Check who you are dealing with. Look for verified ID and phone, and make sure the name on the lease matches the person you are talking to.
  4. Keep a paper trail. Get the price, fees, deposit and minimum stay in writing. Cleaning fees and deposits are common, so read them first.
  5. Be wary of pressure. A price far below the neighborhood, an owner who is “out of town”, a rush to pay, or a request for gift cards, crypto or wire transfers are red flags.

On Diggz, both room seekers and owners can get ID, mobile and social verified, and verified profiles show a badge. Verification is optional. Phone numbers and email addresses are not published on listings. As Rany Burstein, founder of Diggz, puts it:

Our safety system reviews every listing and picks up on suspicious patterns and signals. As new scam patterns emerge, we constantly update it, with the goal of preventing scammers rather than detecting them after the fact.

Profiles that look suspicious are removed, and anyone can flag a profile for review. Read more in Is Diggz safe?

What is the best Furnished Finder alternative for a single room?

It works differently on each site. In our November 2026 test, Furnished Finder’s filter kept 83% to 96% of rooms for January 1 and March 1 searches, including rooms open now. Diggz matches the move month, which returns fewer, more precisely dated rooms.

How we compared

Diggz publishes this page, so we are a competitor of Furnished Finder, and we have tried to be specific about where it wins. On November 2, 2026 we used both sites as a tenant would: Furnished Finder while logged in, Diggz while logged out. We ran searches in New York, Atlanta, Dallas and Boston, applied move-in dates of January 1 and March 1, 2027, opened sample listings and read each company’s published pricing and help pages. Room counts and listings change daily, and Furnished Finder counts depend on the map area shown. We will update this page as both products change.
